In this episode, Mike and Rich bookend the show with two films with the same title!
We kick off with BLACK SITE, a film we'd been looking forward to seeing ever since the buzz from its US release. Does it stand up to expectations?
Next is DAY SHIFT, the feature directorial debut of renowned fight choreographer, J J Perry, and stars Jamie Foxx as a blue-collar vampire hunter. This film is a Netflix original, which have been a bit hit-and-miss, so how does this stand up?
EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS finds Tom Skerrit and his dog un against the elements...
THE CAPTIVE finds a trafficking survivor re-tormented by her original captor,
SPECIAL DELIVERY is a Korean action movie which are usually right up my alley but after being burned by Carter in the last episode, will this renew my faith in the genre?
Our Short Shot is the excellent animated film, THE LEGEND OF PIPI - click on the link for some great dark humour!
Finally, our DTV Throwback is another film called BLACK SITE - this one is a British film, directed by Tom Paton. This is available on the ROKU channel, or to rent from other streaming services.

Saturday Aug 13, 2022
In our latest episode we kick off with the biggest film of the week, PREY, the new Predator movie in which the alien hunter sets his sights on a Comanche tribe. (Prey is currently available on Hulu or Disney+),
Meanwhile, over on Netflix there's CARTER, a hyperkinetic action movie about a Korean agent with no past memories. Take a listen to here our thoughts on it!
I have to fly solo on the next review, as i was the only person to have managed to watch the new western, THE LAST SON - take a listen to hear my opinions!
KING KNIGHT is the lasted pairing of actor Matthew Gray Gubler and Richard Bates Jr, and there are some very divided opinions on the panel!
THE VOICES (aka The Free Fall) is a new horror film co-starring Shawn Ashmore and directed by Adam Stilwell, who made one of my personal fave fakumentaries The Triangle.
Our Short Shot is SCOOTY - click the link for the whole 15 mins, you won't regret it!
Finally our DTV Throwback is REIGO, THE DEEP-SEA MONSTER vs. THE BATTLESHIP YAMATO, a low budget attempt at making a Kaiju movie without a monster suit!

In this episode, Mike and Rich tackle a bit of a mixed bag which nevertheless contains at least one gem!
We kick off with THE MODERN WAY, an anthem for the 80's when Mods and Rockers had resurrected thanks to the likes of Quadrophenia being a cult VHS hit...
Next is WHEN DARKNESS FALLS,a brit horror written by one of our old colleagues, Tom Jolliffe! However our friendship won't stop us from giving the film an honest going over!
MARTYRS LANE is the latest SHUDDER film to be released by Acorn films. I'm on record for saying that I'd gladly sling in any of their curated films without any fore-knowledge, given their success to date. Will I be eating my words?
Finally there is GATLOPP: HELL OF A GAME. Dismiss this film at your peril. Check out our thoughts on it in the episode!
Our Short Shot is the French horror/action/thriller, GABRIEL, in which a troubled boy becomes a cop only to find himself battling inner demons. Click the link to watch the whole film.
Did you know that Michael Bay's Ambulance is actually a remake? This week's DTV Throwback is the Danish original, AMBULANCEN, in which two armed robbers are forced to steal an ambulance in order to escape their botched bank job! This can be currently found on Netflix!

Sunday May 22, 2022
Sunday May 22, 2022
In this episode Mike and Steve take a look at three new releases:
SHATTERED is the latest in the genre of "protagonist stuck inside a single location" - how does it hold up to some of the other films we've covered with the same premise?
THE RETURN finds a young scientist revisiting his family home when his father mysteriously dies. Some of the fx are a bit ropey but is there enough here to keep you engrossed?
RHINO is a film from Ukraine, a gritty gangster movie which is well-made, but is that enough?
Our Short Shot is WE ARE NOT SAFE HERE, featuring three friends on a camping trip telling ghost stories...but are they just stories? Click the link to watch the whole short film.
Finally in our DTV Throwback is CROSSBREED, a low budget Alien style movie - but is there any entertainment value to be had out of it?
Find out the answer to all these questions by tuning in to this episode!

In this bumper episode Mike, Rich and Steve tackle seven new films!
We kick off with HELL HATH NO FURY, directed by the one and only Jesse V Johnson. We've been waiting with baited breath for this one, so does it live up to the hype??
Next is THE BOY BEHIND THE DOOR, a film curated from the SHUDDER streaming service, and does a good job of upholding its reputation for quality horror!
Steve Lawson is a director we have a lot of time for, and we review his latest period action/drama, THE HIGHWAYMAN...
The Australian brothers Tristan and Kiah Roach-Turner crafted a love-letter to both Mad Max and zombie movies with their first film Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. Seven years later they have produced the next chapter in the bloody WYRMWOOD: APOCALYPSE.
THE NEXT GIRL is a hallucinatory trip of a film which split opinions - check out our review in the episode!
THE KILLING OF KENNETH CHAMBERLAIN is a dramatic retelling of the true-life tragedy which befell an elderly person when police are dispatched to provide medical assistance.
and in FAYE, actress Sarah Zanotti has to carry the whole film as she is the only one in it!
Our Short Shot is the excellent TWISTING TIGER, which would make an great pairing with Paper Tigers! Click the link to watch the whole 30 min film!
Finally, our DTV Throwback is FEAST - another film which wildly split opinions this week!

Our second review is YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER. Set on a council estate in Northern Ireland, a young girl tries to understand the wild shifts in mood that her mother is suffering from.
Our Short Shot is TROLLIED, very entertaining short featuring one of our favourite tropes, the "inanimate object made evil". Click the link to watch the whole 4 min short.

Episode 190: The Ledge, The Misfits, Restless, Jester Must Die, Deep Freeze
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Monday Mar 14, 2022
This week Mike, Rich and Steve start our 190th episode (!) by reviewing THE LEDGE, the latest film from Howard J Ford (The Dead, Don't Let Go). This sees a young climber having to scale a mountain with minimal equipment to escape some killers...
Next is THE MISFITS, starring Pierce Brosnan as a thief recruited by some "Robin Hood" types to pull off a daring heist. This is currently available on Amazon Prime!
Over on Netflix, we cover the recent French thriller, RESTLESS, which sees a corrupt cop having what could possibly be the worst day of his life! This is a remake of a Korean thriller called A Hard Day, which can itself be rented via Amazon (and other streaming sites).
Our Short Shot is JESTER MUST DIE in which a bodyguard helps the daughter of his boss escape from his clutches. This is directed by Michael Lehr, one of the best fight choreographers out there. Check the link to watch the whole 16min short but do check out his other work too!
Finally we take a look at DEEP FREEZE in our DTV Throwback - a team of post-grad students arrive at a deep mining platform in the Antarctic only to discover something has awoken deep under the ice.

Saturday Mar 05, 2022
This week Mike, Rich and Steve take a look at a couple of films currently available on Netflix. First up is LAST MAN DOWN, starring bodybuilder-turned-actor Daniel Stizen. Then we have THE DIESEL, an Egyptian action film about a stuntman who becomes embroiled in a weird conspiracy...
We also check out INCARNATION, starring Taye Diggs and Michael Madsen, involving a couple who move into a new house only to find themselves sucked into demonic shenanigans!
Mike and Rich then attempt to review ZEROS AND ONES, the latest film from Abel Ferrara and starring Ethan Hawke. Its certainly a ...ahem...challenging film in that it challenges you to find anything to recommend it, and is certainly worth watching just for Ethan Hawke's own reaction to it at the end!
We're on much firmer ground with our Short Shot, as its directed by Park Chan Wook! LIFE IS BUT A DREAM sees a village undertaker rob a grave of its coffin, only to be haunted by its occupant, a long dead swordsman, who forces the undertaker to explain himself. Not only is this a great little film but it was (mostly) shot using the latest iPhone! Click the link to watch the whole film!
We wrap up with our DTV Throwback - INTRUDER is directed by Scott Spiegel and contains a lot of his directorial motifs such as shooting strange POV angles. It does surprise me though that this isn't a more well-known slasher! (Warning - the trailer gives away who the killer is!}. This film is currently available on the SHUDDER streaming service.

Mike and Rich embark on the 4 hour marathon which is the JUSTICE LEAGUE SNYDER CUT and are pretty impressed by the sights along the way! In keeping with the superhero theme, our Short Shot is a Batman fan film called DYING IS EASY. The company behind this short are called Bat In The Sun and we recommend you check out some of their other shorts!
To round things off, our DTV Throwback is a DTV sequel to Sam Raimi's Darkman. In DARKMAN 2: THE RETURN OF DURANT, Arnold Vosloo takes over from Liam Neeson. Cue melting faces and big explosions!
