Episode 136 - Seized, Kuckledust, Bad Hit, Sci-Fighters

This week Mike, Rich and Steve check out the latest collaboration between Scott Adkins and Isaac Florentine, SEIZED, also starring Mario Van Peebles!

Episode 134: Jiu Jitsu, Death Fighter, Guardian, Fight of Fury, Enter the Fire, A Kung Fu Vampire Story, Nemesis

This week's episode is dedicated to the Fighting Spirit Film Festival, which has had some serious challenges this year thanks to COVID. Unfortunately this will be the first time in 5 years that I will have missed the event but look forward to next year.
So, in this episode, Mike Rich and Tom take a look at JIU JITSU, a mash up of Predator and Mortal Kombat with a cast worthy of such a film. We follow that with DEATH FIGHTER, starring Matt Mullins, Don Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock.
Things get a little challenging after this, as we move on to GUARDIAN, an Indonesian film which follows a very familiar template and contains some very shoddy camera-work! We then move onto the passion/vanity project which is FIGHT OF FURY - this film has to be seen to be believed! Our final feature is ENTER THE FIRE, which we promise, gets better after the initial fight scene!!

Episode 130 - Vengeance, Transit 17, The Automaton, Replicant

In this episode, Mike and Rich take a look at the latest movie to be titled VENGEANCE (previously known as Acceptance) and the long-awaited TRANSIT 17, co-starring Silvio Simac and Zara Phythian.

Episode 126 - Legacy of Lies, Alien Addiction, Vampires of New Orleans - Speed of Time, Philadelphia Experiment 2

In this episode, Mike and Rich take a look at the latest Scott Adkins thriller, LEGACY OF LIES, which proves to be quite different from some of his other recent films.
After this its off to New Zealand for the stoner comedy ALIEN ADDICTION - there's something about Kiwi humour which really hits my funny bone: check out our review to find out if this follows the trend!
Finally, we have words with VAMPIRES OF NEW ORLEANS, (also known as Gothic Harvest) chiefly about the scarcity of vamps in the damn film!

Episode 125: Ravage, Bay of Silence, Star Trek: First Frontier, No Mercy, Tail Sting

This week, Mike, Rich and Steve take a look at the intense rape-revenge thriller, RAVAGE, before diving into something completely different with BAY OF SILENCE, and rounding off with the fan-made STAR TREK: FIRST FRONTIER. You can find the full feature HERE.

Episode 124 - Twin Murders, To The Wire, The Plagues of Breslau, Lost Souls: Mortal Kombat, Faults

In this episode, Mike, Rich and Will take a look at three Euro thrillers available on streaming services. First up is THE TWIN MURDERS: SILENCE IN THE WHITE CITY (Netflix), set in Spain, in which a serial killer reappears after a long absence. From there we move to Hungary for TO THE WIRE (aka X) (Amazon Prime), in which a reclusive detective is forced back into the field when she discovers a series of deaths ruled as suicide were in fact murders. And finally we go to Poland for THE PLAGUES OF BRESLAU (Netflix), in which a killer is using a set of historical executions to take exact revenge.
Our Short Shot is LOST SOULS: MORTAL KOMBAT - a fan film using characters from the video games.
Finally, our DTV Throwback is FAULTS (Amazon Prime), in which a psychiatrist is hired to kidnap and deprogram a young woman involved in a cult.

Episode 119 - Sputnik, Race Fast, Hunter's Moon, Message Man, Gambit, The Assault

In this episode, Mike, Rich and Steve kick off with the Russian, period sci-fi thriller SPUTNIK, which definitely evokes the old Quatermass films! Then it's off to Poland for some Fast n Furious style street racing, with RACE FAST - check out our review to find out if it's worth a look!
In HUNTER'S MOON, Thomas Jane must sort out a home invasion before things get nasty and we find out that MESSAGE MAN has a very particular set of skills.
 
Our Short Shot this week is GAMBIT - PLAY FOR KEEPS, a fan made non-profit film featuring a certain Marvel character and a certain well-known actor. Click the link to watch the whole short film!
We must give a shout-out to @mattybudrewicz for giving us the heads up about our DTV Throwback, THE ASSAULT, which is an action packed siege movie from Jim Wynorski, the director of a previous Throwback, Storm Trooper. Unfortunately I couldn't find a trailer for this one, but the film itself is available on Amazon Prime.

Episode 117 - Mortal, Shifter, 2099: The Soldier Protocol, Hero, Soul Searcher

This week Mike, Rich and Steve look at three new releases. First up is the Norwegian action thriller steeped in Norse mythology, MORTAL, directed by Troll Hunter's André Øvredal. Following this we have the indie time travel/body horror movie, SHIFTER, and our third feature is 2099: THE SOLDIER PROTOCOL which surprisingly co-stars David Arquette!
Our Short Shot this week is HERO, and we finish up with another DTV Throwback obscurity, SOUL SEARCHER!

Episode 116 - Arkansas, Open 24hrs, Do No Harm, Stormtrooper

This week, Mike and Rich tackle the new black comedy/crime drama ARKANSAS which stars Liam Hemsworth and Vince Vaughn, among others. Then we switch genres to OPEN 24 HOURS, in which a woman is stalked by her serial killer ex boyfriend...or is she?....or....isn't she??

Finally, Rich has managed to discover another obscure action movie for our DTV Throwback, which is STORMTROOPER - a film which really messed with my expectations. I couldn't find an actual trailer for this so enjoy this short clip dubbed into Russian (?). Anyway the film is available on Amazon Prime, check out our review to find out if its worth your time!
 

Episode 115: Alien Outbreak, American Fighter, Trace, Silent Trigger

This week, Mike and Rich are rejoined by Steve Lockeridge and Will Bentley to discuss two main features: first up is the independent sci-fi thriller, ALIEN OUTBREAK which contains some stunning alien creations. This is followed by AMERICAN FIGHTER, which may defy your assumptions based on that title! 
 
Our Short Shot is TRACE, a martial arts clip set in a distopian future where Artificial Intelligence is being put to some interesting uses.
 
Finally our DTV Throwback this week is SILENT TRIGGER, starring Dolph Lundgren. As a big fan of the series Leverage, I was pleasantly surprised to see who his costar was! This is available on Amazon Prime so check it out if you like what we say about it.
