Episode 113 - I Am Vengeance: Retaliation, The Cure, US SEALS 2
Wednesday Jul 08, 2020
Wednesday Jul 08, 2020
in this Action packed, testosterone fuelled episode, Mike, Rich and Steve interview ROSS BOYASK about his latest film, I AM VENGEANCE: RETALIATION, starring Stu Bennet and Vinnie Jones, before launching into our review.
And in keeping with that film, our Short Shot is the seriously action packed THE CURE, which apparently was made for a poultry $16,000 - when you see the size and scope of the action in that film you'll realise why that is such a big deal and why we consider it one of the best shorts we've seen this year!
And finally we wind up with the wonderfully quirky action movie US SEALS 2, directed by none other than Isaac Florentine.
Check it out!!

Episode 108 - Payback - Extraction - A Sock and a Hard Place - Jungleground
Tuesday Jun 02, 2020
Tuesday Jun 02, 2020
In this episode, Mike Rich and Tom welcome back the iconic duo of French (Scott Adkins) and Sue (Louis Mandylor) in the sequel to The Debt Collector, PAYBACK. A small point to note - we refer to the film as "Debt Collectors", as that was the title when we recorded this episode.
Next up is the action packed EXTRACTION, courtesy of Netflix, starring Chris Hemsworth. You may be surprised by some of the opinions given in our review!
Our Short Shot is HELD OP SOK, aka A Sock and a Hard Place, directed by Thijs Meuwese whose feature KILL MODE we reviewed in Episode 96.
Rounding off this week in our DTV Throwback is JUNGLEGROUND, starring Roddy Piper and available on Amazon Prime.

Episode 106 - Proximity, Nightfire, Shadow Fury
Sunday May 17, 2020
Sunday May 17, 2020
This episode sees Mike and Rich tackle a new alien abduction movie, PROXIMITY, in which a NASA scientist tries to figure out why he was abducted by aliens and trying to keep one step ahead of shady Men In Black types.
Our Short Shot this week is NIGHTFIRE, which you can find on Amazon Prime, so the attached link will take you to the trailer. At 40 min, its also probably the longest short film we've covered here.
Finally, our DTV Throwback is another one of Rich's obscure discoveries, SHADOW FURY. As far as we can tell this is currently out of print in the UK so we're linking to a copy we found on YouTube instead.

With the extra help of Tom Jolliffe, Mike and Rich manage to tackle 3 main feature reviews this week! First up is the adaptation of H.P.Lovecraft's COLOUR OUT OF SPACE, starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Richard Stanley. This film garnered a lot of praise while on the festival circuit but how do we rate it? Take a listen!
We also take a look at THE IRON MASK - how could we not? It has Arnie and Jackie all over the cover! Of course they are there for an extended cameo only, but how does the rest of the film hold up?
Then there is SEA FEVER, a down-to-earth creature feature from Ireland, which features both Dougray Scott and Connie Nielsen.
Our Short Shot this week is basically an experiment in Green Screen on a low budget - with KUNG FU vs ZOMBIES, Eric Jacobous schools us on what can be achieved for a few hundred dollars! Watch the end credits to get a brief glimpse behind the scenes.
And finally our DTV Throwback is THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM (aka VIY) (available on Amazon Prime) and is actually the precursor to THE IRON MASK. I wonder how the two compare?

Episode 080 - 5th Passenger, Dead Trigger, All the Devil's Men, Polar
Wednesday Feb 13, 2019
Wednesday Feb 13, 2019
This week Mike and Rich discuss a certain controversy surrounding Amazon Prime! before getting on with the main reviews, which this week are 5TH PASSENGER, starring actors from various incarnations of Star Trek, DEAD TRIGGER, based on a video game and starring Dolph Lundgren, ALL THE DEVIL'S MEN starring Mile (Son of Mel) Gibson and from the director of The Veteran, and we round off with one of NETFLIX's latest offerings, the Mads Mikkelsen starring POLAR. Our DTV throwback this week is INANIMATE, aka HARBINGER DOWN starring Lance Henriksen, and our Short short is the zombie movie, DEADZONE. Looks like we're back on track and normal service is resuming! This week, Mike and Rich tackle two very different films: BUYBUST, a filipino take on The Raid starring Anne Curtis, and a Canadian horror movie which garnered a lot of praise at this year's Frightfest, THE WITCH AT THE WINDOW. Not only that, but Mike gives his take on the low budget thriller BETRAYED, ROBIN HOOD: THE REBELLION and the James Franco directed FUTURE WORLD. And as if that weren't enough there are also our usual features, the DTV CHART, COMING SOON and WASHING UP sections. We hope you enjoy the episode and be sure to check out the FOOTNOTES below!

Episode 74 - The Lost Episode - Final Score, Vengeance, Attrition, Gansta
Saturday Nov 17, 2018
Saturday Nov 17, 2018
Hello everybody and welcome to our "lost" episode. We originally recorded the bulk of this shortly after the Fighting Spirit Film Festival, at the end of September but due to my moving house and Rich being on holiday, it took a long time to get round to editing and publishing the episode. So long in fact that we decided to add a fourth review, for the Belgian crime movie, GANGSTA, to go along with our already-in-the-bag reviews for FINAL SCORE, VENGEANCE and ATTRITION. We also run down our favourite films from the FIGHTING SPIRIT FILM FESTIVAL. Now for this episode we re-recorded the DTV CHART and I've decided to leave out the WASHING UP for this week - it will be back in the next episode. Hope you enjoy the show and check out the FOOTNOTES below!
