Happy New Year, everyone! In this episode, Rich and I take a look back at the year in DTV. We look at what the industry as a whole has achieved, a look back at what we have achieved and what we wish we had the time and energy to cover.
As we did last year, we run through a few awards -  I wonder which film would feature there??

Episode 091 - The Brave, MMA - Love Never Dies

This week Rich and i tackle a film I'd been looking forward to seeing for a while, THE BRAVE, starring Louis Mandylor and directed by William Kaufman. Will it live up to expectations? Tune in to find out! Not only that but we check out the Italian MMA thriller, MMA-LOVE NEVER DIES. 
Also in this week's show our Short Short is the very well directed and edited (and possibly prescient!) THE BOUNTY. 
For our DTV THROWBACK section, Rich managed to surprise me yet again by digging up not one, but two Corey Haim movies - DEMOLITION HIGH and DEMOLITION U. I'd never even heard of these, let alone seen them! Catch my reaction on the show!

Episode 090 - Egyptian Special - No Surrender, Detention Letter, The Cell

We recorded this episode at the end of September but due to me not having much spare time over the past couple of months, its taken an age to get a new episode out. In the meantime, Rich and I have decided to streamline the show and use our social media platforms to carry some of the weight going forward, so check out our facebook group The DTV Digest and our twitter account, @TheDTVDigest to keep up with the chart, trailers and new releases.
In this week's show, we are looking at three EGYPTIAN films, an idea sparked by the recent release of NO SURRENDER which has an extended cameo from an actor we all know and love. From there we were able to track down DETENTION LETTER and THE CELL, both of which are available on NETFLIX. 
In our DTV Throwback this week, we take a look at a very unlikely Die Hard in a Shopping Mall movie POINT BLANK, and our Short Shot section completes our rundown of the Fighting Spirit Film Festival's short programme.

Episode 089 - Fighting Spirit Festival 2019 (inc The Mercenary and Dragons Forever)

This episode was recorded during the Fighting Spirit Film Festival held in London, the fourth such event and one that we are proud to support. In this episode, we discuss Day One of the Festival's main event, the Short Film programme, which this year saw a phenomenal amount of submissions from all over the world. 
In addition we review THE MERCENARY, a new film from director Jesse V Johnson - a name that should be very familiar to all of you, starring long time collaborator Dominique Vandenberg. For our DTV throwback we look at Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao in the classic DRAGONS FOREVER, shortly to be re-released in a new print by 88FILMS. 
Not only all that but we have a bumper crop of trailers in our COMING SOON section and a smattering of new releases in the WASHING UP...

Episode 087 - Solis, Approaching The Unknown

A quick warning-slash-apology upfront, the audio for this episode isn't great. We had the opportunity to record in the same room for once, and I...forgot the microphone. So instead three guys were using a tiny headset mic.
Anyway - this episode sees us discussing two movies about a single guy in space - the recent SOLIS, and in our DTV Throwback section, the Mark Strong starring APPROACHING THE UNKNOWN. Episode 086 - Mid Year Review

We've hit the mid-point of the year, so Rich and Mike decided to take stock of the world of  DTV over the past six months. Joined by former co-presenter and manager of one of the very few remaining DVD rental stores in the UK, DAVE WAIN, the trio do their level best to take a sober viewpoint on both the present and future.
 
There are no reviews of films in this episode, nor any of our usual features, but nevertheless we hope that you will find our discussion interesting and, dare I say it, worthy of wasting your time. Enjoy!

It's about time we got around to discussing at length some of Scott Adkins' work and what better time to do so than with the DVD/Blu Ray release of his most recent collaboration with director Jesse V Johnson, AVENGEMENT? Episode 084 - Evil Doll Double Bill

Evil Doll movies are all the rage at the moment, what with the remake of Childs Play hitting the cinemas and Annabelle 3 due out later this year. So we decided to take a look at two recent DTV efforts - MANDY THE DOLL and CLOWN DOLL. We also take a look at a doll-themed short called DOLL IT UP, and we have our usual COMING SOON and DTV CHART - as well as a different take on the WASHING UP. Check it out and spread the word!
