Tuesday Nov 16, 2021
Tuesday Nov 16, 2021
In this episode Mike, Rich and Steve tackle two new releases, a really great fan film and a curious Hollywood attempt at JHorror.
We start with the Canadian horror-comedy, ANKLE BITERS in which four young sisters scheme to kill their future stepdad!
Next up is HABIT, in which 3 party girls disguise themselves as nuns to avoid being killed over a drug deal gone bad!
Our Short Shot this week is one of the best fan films we've seen in a while Check out GHOSTBUSTERS SOUTHSIDE !
Our DTV Throwback is a curio - FLIGHT 7500 is an American film starring Ryan Kwanten, but is directed by Takashi Shimizu, who directed the original Grudge/Ju-On films.

In this episode Mike, Rich and Steve deal with some highs, some lows and a real surprise!
Kicking off with REPEAT, a UK "hard sci-fi" film in which a professor discovers a way to talk to the recently deceased.
Next is KNOCKING, a Swedish film about a woman who starts hearing loud banging noises in the walls of her new apartment.
We've covered director Christian Sesma's work before: you can hear our reviews of Take Back and Paydirt on previous episodes. His latest is EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM and features Paul Slone on a vengeful rampage!
Bruce Willis picks up his latest paycheck in APEX PREDATOR, a "most dangerous game" style movie with futuristic trappings.
Out Short Shot is CERA, which features Jason Isaacs trying to keep his family safe.
Our DTV Throwback is COLLECTION (aka Reach Me) and has a cast list which needs to be seen to be believed. Despite its very trite subject matter, this one is certainly a curiosity piece! This can be found on Prime but also on The Midnight Screening Channel on Youtube!

In this episode we cover five new DTV releases as well as two fan films and one of the craziest throwbacks we've had in a while!
We start off with THE FLOOD - a brutal but well made film which contain some extended rape scenes, so be warned! You can find our review starting at 1.20
To cleanse the palate so to speak we have something complete different next. PARANORMAL PRISON finds some youtube paranormal investigators on their biggest case yet. Review starts at 16:52.
Next up is DISAPPEARANCE AT LAKE ELROD (originally known as Through the Glass Darkly in the US) - ignore the dvd cover for this one as the tone is completely different! Review starts at 21.58
COVEN sees a group of college witches search for a new recruit to help them unleash a goddess...Review starts at 43.13
LORE is another film given a disingenuous DVD cover, something we discuss in our review, which starts at 58.02
With Halloween Kills hitting the cinemas and splitting fan opinions straight down the middle, we look at a recent Fan Film based on the franchise, THE HADDONFIELD NIGHTMARE (click the link to watch the whole feature!) - this is set after the events of Halloween H20 and follows one of the surviving characters. Our review starts at 1.08.59
Our Short Shot is another fan film, except from the Candyman universe. BRIDE OF CANDYMAN can be seen in all its glory by clicking the link and you can hear our thoughts at 1.22.29
finally our DTV Throwback is a barnstormer. Olivier Gruner (Nemesis) stars SAVAGE This can be found on Youtube so click the link to bask in its awesome nuttiness! Review starts at 1.31.42

In this episode Mike, Rich and Steve tackle four very different new releases!
We start with the most prestigious of them with WARNING, which features Thomas Jane, Alex Pettifer and among its cast.
Next up is WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING, a tense horror thriller set almost entirely within one setting.
BIGFOOT HUNTERS is a very humorous mockumentary which sees a couple of film-makers working for an online news network are sent to do a piece on Bigfoot, much to their chagrin!
Finally there is KINGDOM OF ASHES, a Spanish production shot in English.
Our Short Shot this week is HERE TO STAY, a very creepy tale with some great sound design - i recommend watching with headphones!
And finally our DTV Throwback is THE LAST SURVIVORS (available on Prime).

This week we have three new features to review. Mike and Steve kick off with WHITETAIL, about a family trying to bond after a tragedy by shooting a deer, only to find something more sinister out in the woods!
Next is POTTERS GROUND - I was initially nervous about tackling another low budget film set during the American Civil War, but this one surprised me!
Mike and Will then take a look at THE GHOSTS OF BORLEY RECTORY, the second film to be set in Borley by prolific director Steven M Smith. His previous film ended up hanging around the DVD top 100 chart for months - time will tell if this does as well!
Our Short Shot is YELLOWBELT FURY in which a woman starts taking karate lessons to wreak vengeance on the aliens who killed her husband!
Finally our DTV Throwback is TIGER HOUSE, a British home-invasion style movie starring Dougray Scott and Ed Skrein.

For this episode Mike, Rich, Steve and Will were joined by special guest, Leo from GEEK LEGION OF DOOM to help review the latest batch of films.
We kick off with DEATH RANCH, the latest film from indie film-maker Charlie Steeds, who is fast becoming a favourite of mine and a name to take note of! Be warned, that trailer is extra splattery!
Next up is THE SURVIVALIST. The director, Jon Keeyes, didn't impress us much with his previous film Rogue Hostage - perhaps he does better here with the likes of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Julian Sands!
Then there's NIGHT DRIVE, in which a "ride share driver" picks up a mysterious passenger and shenanigans unfold! This is a film none of us had heard of prior to this week - take a listen to hear what we thought!
Rich then joins us to discuss the latest Short Shot - THE TIME TRAVELLING SHERIFF by youtuber Zach King - definitely check out this short and also anything else by this man, he's literally magic!
Our DTV Throwback is FANBOYS, in which Star Wars fans try to break into Lucas's ranch to steal a copy of The Phantom Menace. The whole idea seems so stupid in retrospect, doesn't it? Take a listen to hear what we think of this....film.

Next is THE WITCH, which gets points for trying something a little different!
Then there is BLOOD THIRSTY, which doesn't seem like it at first but is in fact a fan film, uniting two very different sets of heroes from the Marvel-verse!
Finally there is WARLIKE, in which a team of Spec Ops suddenly realise their target is right in amongst them.

Then Mike and Steve check out THE LAST EXORCIST and we have some....choice things to say about this one!
Our Short Shot this week is DEADLOCK, which takes the concept of Ghostbusters, ditches the humour and adds a more real-world take.
Finally, our DTV Throwback is OPEN GRAVES, a 2009 horror which was a US/Spain co-production and features Eliza Dushku!
